RR Auction sold all four reported lots for a total of $29,824. The session was led by Charles Schulz’s signed Peanuts Sunday comic strip from June 26, 1983, which sold for $23,250 against an estimate of $10,000+. Tim Burton’s signed Jack Skellington and Sally sketches sold for $3,806, Pat Sullivan’s Felix the Cat sketch reached $1,709, and Charles Addams’ Wednesday Addams sketch sold for $1,059.
Bonhams reported one original comic art sale: Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts daily strip from December 5, 1989 sold for $12,160, within its $8,000–12,000 estimate.
Heritage sold more than 400 lots, with a 100% sell-through rate and a total of $211,200. Larry Lieber and Frank Giacoia’s Super Spider-Man and the Titans #211 cover led the auction at $10,000. Other higher results included Bob Oksner’s Miss Cairo Jones Sunday strip at $5,250, Tim Sale’s unused Batman: Madness cover at $5,000, Hal Foster and John Cullen Murphy’s Prince Valiant #1781 Sunday strip at $4,500, and Gabriele Dell’Otto’s Spider-Man illustration at $3,500. The featured Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman Zits Sunday strip from November 29, 2020 sold for $575.
Landry Pop Auctions sold 25 of 45 lots for $7,312. Maurice Whitman’s Rangers Comics #7 story page sold above estimate at $671, followed by Velázquez Fraga’s Mexican pulp horror cover painting at $610 and a Marvel Special Edition Star Wars #1 advertisement color guide at $572. Two featured Spider-Man-related lots, Matt Horak’s Spider-Man/Deadpool #36 story pages and Shawn McManus’ Rhino vs. Spider-Man illustration, did not meet reserve.
Catawiki offered close to 400 lots and sold 304, totaling €37,318. Corrado Roi’s Ut: L’Inizio color drawing and Hugo Pratt’s Corto Maltese page from La Jeunesse de Corto Maltese each sold for €2,000. Corrado Roi’s featured Dylan Dog: Le Nebbie di Praga page sold for €800, while Fernando Fusco’s featured Tex drawing and Bernard Thierce’s featured La Nef des fous T7 color page did not meet reserve.
eBay reported a strong extract of higher sales. Carlos Ezquerra’s Starlord #12 cover sold for $10,115.25. The John Higgins and Dave Gibbons-related Watchmen #7 cover color guide sold for £4,200, about $5,650 or €4,900. Other featured sales included the Death of Superman jam illustration at $1,600, Don Perlin’s Werewolf by Night #38 original page at $1,395, and Juan Gedeon’s Jurassic League #6 variant cover at $999.99.
Raremarq sold 50 of 160 lots for $34,887. Jorge Molina’s Clayface: Celebrity Dirt #1 variant cover led the platform at $5,550. David Dias’ Rogue sketch cover sold for $3,038, his Spider-Gwen sketch cover for $2,555, Stanley Artgerm Lau’s Thanos Infinity Gauntlet #1 sketch cover for $2,340, and David Dias’ Poison Ivy sketch cover for $2,131.
Mandarake sold four small shikishi-related lots, led by Tony’s signed Kinren color reproduction shikishi at ¥20,000, about $130 or €110. todocoleccion reported no sold lots in the auction extract. Smaller auction-house results included Otto Soglow’s work on paper at $294.75 at Clars Auction Gallery, a Supergirl sketch at $56 at mycomicshop.com, and two modest Excalibur Auctions sales led by Brian Lewis’ Strips 78 original art at £50, about $70 or €60.
eBay opened several active auctions worth watching. The featured group includes Don Newton’s Batgirl end page from Detective Comics #492 at $500, Russ Heath’s Sea Devils #8 original page at $381, Russ Heath’s Sea Devils #10 splash page at $367, and Cliff Chiang’s Wonder Woman #12 page 1 at $102.50. Also active are David Finch’s Batman commission at $710.30 and a Frank Miller Spider-Man sketch card at $202.50.
Catawiki has a new group of active auctions led by Marc Sleen’s featured Nero page from De vliegende handschoen at €750. Other featured lots include Eddy Barrows and J.P. Mayer’s Superman page at €280, Romano Molenaar’s The Darkness page at €175, and Giuseppe De Luca’s Batman drawing at €150. Among non-featured active lots, Giulio De Vita’s Tex on horseback drawing stands at €300.
