Jeff Purves was born in Okinawa, Japan in 1961. After moving around the States, the Purves family finally settled in Cheyenne, Wyoming at Warren Air Force Base. After winning a scholarship for art in Cheyenne, Jeff attended Laramie County Community College and majored in art history. He then applied to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and also attended the Art Center.
