Big Barda is an antihero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. She first appeared in Mister Miracle #4 (October 1971), and was created by Jack Kirby. She was raised as a member of the New Gods, but left to become a hero. Jack Kirby based Barda's physical appearance on Lainie Kazan, who had recently appeared topless in Playboy.
