Jim Fernandez was one of the most popular illustrators in the Philippines from mid-1950s til the late 1980s. He was a contemporary of Nestor Redondo, Alfredo Alcala, Fred Carrillo, and Amado Castrillo. He teamed up with writers such as Mars Ravelo, Rico Bello Omagap, Pablo S., Gomez, Clodualdo and Del Mundo and others.
