Hermann was a Belgian comic artist, ranking as one of the foremost and most influential creators of adult comics in Europe. He gained his earliest fame in Tintin magazine with the nautical adventure comic 'Bernard Prince' (1965-1980), scripted by Greg, and as the first artist of Jean-Luc Vernal's 'Jugurtha' (1967-1970), a series set in ancient Numidia. With Greg, he also made the groundbreaking western series 'Comanche' (1969-1982), which shocked Tintin's audience with its bloodshed and violence.
