Beauregard! Is a Comic Strip Jack Davis Created in 1961. the Setting Was the Civil War, a Favorite Subject of Southerner Davis.  Never Syndicated, It Was Handled Briefly For Four Months By the McClure Syndicate, Which Dropped It After Discovering That Northern Newspapers Did Not Consider the Civil War To Be a Joking Matter. Davis Later Ran the Strips As a Feature In Help! And Sick, Where It Was Call Bo Rearguard. the Name “Beauregard” Is From Jack’S Favorite Confederate General During the Civil War. Above the Inside Door To Jack’S Studio in Hartsdale, Ny, Hung an Old Engraved Image of His General. It Was the Northern Papers That Didn’T Like the Subject Matter. in 1963, Jack Redrew the Strip To Look More Friendly And All the Art Was Rendered in Brush Only. the Art I’M Putting in Auction Is One of the Redrawn Pieces of Art.  | Davis - Beauregard | Russ Cochran
