Olivier Vatine studied fine arts in Rouen in 1977, when he met Thierry Cailleteau. Together they made 'Fred et Bob' for Pilote, 'Sam Pulsar' for Fluide Glacial and 'Aquablue'. Next, Vatine worked in advertisement and animation. In 1991, along with Alain Clément, he wrote his first scenario: 'Adios Palomita', a western illustrated by Fabrice Lamy.
