Joe Musial was born in 1905 in Yonkers, New York, to Polish immigrant parents. After graduating from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, he studied for a year at the Sorbonne University of Paris, France. In 1929, Musial got his first professional job as assistant on Billy DeBeck's 'Barney Google'. In 1932, Joseph Musial joined the staff of King Features.
