The series ran in Look-In between May 1972 and late 1978 with name changes to reflect the current version of the TV inspiration; Doctor at Large, Doctor at Sea; Doctor on the Go. This page is from issue 27, 1974 featuring Robin Nedwell, Geoffrey Davies and Ernest Clark. Signed by the artist.

Harry North excelled at caricature as his later work for Mad Magazine showed so well. Prior to that he was a mainstay on the Look-In adaptations of the Doctor series that ran on TV (and previously in film and Richard Gordon's original novels).

Please note page was cut in half horizontally in the middle at some stage during printing and has been taped / reinforced on the rear.

This is the original Gouache painting by Angus McBride.

The peasant army raised by the Duke of Monmouth during his unsuccessful attempt to claim the throne from James II faces the prospect of a battle with regular British army troops.

This is probably an artist's vision of the Battle of Edmore 1685 which saw Monmouth's defeat and the end of the Rebellion. Hundreds of his supporters were sentenced to death by the infamous Judge Jeffries and he was beheaded.

Part of the series From Then Till Now Rockets Sky High. By the 13th Century the Chinese were using rockets to propel fire arrows against their enemies the Mongols. By the 16th Century siege engines in Europe were firing a "war-head" that exploded on impact. Improvements in direction with fins were a 19th Century development.

Robert Goddard an American inventor was the first to use liquid fuel, WWII saw the German V2 terrorising London but that eventually lead to Werner von Braun's work for NASA and the American Space Programme of the 1950s-1970s.

Please note that the art which was published in Look and Learn issue 227, 21st May 1966 was cut into 3 strips and remounted on a clean board when the art was re-used for a feature in the Valiant Book 1979.

His nervous mother complies with her pushy son but is so nervous she spills the jewels onto the palace floor in front of the crafty King and his Vizier.

This section of the river highlights famous locals such as three-time Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin and the composer Edward Elgar. Also noted is the fact that Worcester cricket ground has been flooded by the river several times resulting in oddities such as salmon being caught in the pavilion.

From the Look and Learn history of Rome. When the Roman Army under Caligula reached the north coast of France, Caligula ordered his soldiers to pick up all the sea shells they could find. This was part of a plan to conquer Britain. Instead Caligula was happy enough with the shells that symbolised his "victory over the ocean".

When Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbour and destroyed the American fleet at anchor there, William Mitchell, the one man who had predicted the use of aircraft for this purpose, was not alive to help his country.

Note this was probable part of a larger image and there is glue residue visible upper left of the picture. Still a dynamic painting by Angus McBride. Original publication date yet to be determined.
